- A Valentine’s letter, handwritten.
A Valentine’s letter, handwritten.
Skip the card aisle. Type her a Valentine’s letter on your phone, a real pen writes it, we seal it, stamp it and mail it. Order early in February to land by the 14th. Shipping included.
Why a letter instead of a card this Valentine’s
Every card in the aisle says the same thing in the same font, and she has seen all of them. A one-page letter in real ink, in an envelope with her name on it, is the thing she will still have next February. It costs about the same as the card and the gas to go buy it.
When to order so it arrives by February 14
Letters are written and mailed within two business days and USPS First-Class usually takes two to five more. Order by February 6 to be safe anywhere in the United States, by February 9 if she is in Texas. Cutting it close? Order anyway, mail it to yourself, and hand it to her on the day.
What to write in a Valentine’s letter
Do not try to write about love. Write about her. One specific thing from this year, one thing you would have never said at dinner, and one thing you want to do together before next Valentine’s. Three paragraphs. Sign it. That is a better Valentine than any poem you would find online, and it is the one she keeps. The full method is in how to write a love letter.

Questions
Can I send a Valentine’s letter to a crush?
Yes, and it is braver than a text. Keep it short, keep it specific, and do not ask for anything in it. Let the letter be the whole move.
Will it get there if I order on the 12th?
Probably not by the 14th. Order it anyway and mail it to yourself, then hand it to her. A letter a few days late is still a letter.
Can I add a drawing?
Yes. The pen traces pictures in outline. A heart is a cliché; a sketch of your dog in a bow tie is not.
