Send a handwritten letter from your phone.
Type your letter online. A machine writes it with a real ballpoint pen on real paper, and we seal it, stamp it and mail it from Abilene, Texas. Postage included.
How do I send a handwritten letter online?
Type it, pick a handwriting, pay, done. At NotAText a real ballpoint pen writes your exact words on real paper, one person folds it and seals it in the envelope you picked, and it goes out by USPS from Abilene, Texas within two business days. You never touch a pen, a stamp or a post office.
What you get
- A real handwritten page. Not a printout of a handwriting font. A machine holds a ballpoint pen and writes stroke by stroke. You can feel the ink in the paper.
- Your words, exactly. We never write for you and we never change a word. The preview you approve is the exact path the pen follows.
- A sealed, stamped envelope with her address on the front and your return address on the back, so it looks like it came from you, because it did.
- Postage included. Both sizes include postage anywhere in the United States.
How long does it take?
Written and mailed within two business days. USPS First-Class usually takes another two to five days. Order on a Monday and it is typically in her hands by the end of the week.
Who is this for?
Anyone who wants to send a real letter and knows they will never sit down and write one. Mostly men writing to a girlfriend or wife. Also sons writing to moms, grandkids writing to grandparents, friends with a deployed buddy, and people with handwriting so bad they would rather not.
What can I say in it?
Anything you would say to her. Up to 5,000 characters, as many sheets as it takes. You can add a photo or a drawing and the pen traces it in outline. If you are stuck, the editor has starters for the usual reasons: missing her, sorry, anniversary, just because. Or read how to write a love letter.
Is it really handwritten?
Yes, by a machine with a real pen. We built it in our shop in Abilene. It is not a printer and it does not use fonts. Every letter leans and loops a little differently, because that is what a pen does. Read more about the machine and whether that counts.
Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Type the letter, pay by card, and it is on its way. An account only saves your handwriting, envelope and return address for next time.
Can I see it before it is mailed?
Yes. The preview on screen is the exact path the pen follows. What you approve is what she gets.
Can I send it anywhere?
Anywhere USPS delivers in the United States. We check both addresses with USPS before you pay.
Can I mail one to myself first?
Yes. Put your own address as the recipient. Plenty of people do, to see it before sending the real one.
What if my letter is long?
The first two written pages are included. Each extra half-size page is $1.50; each extra full-size page is $2.50. You always see the total before you pay.
